One of the most prominent celebrities known by many names, such as Sasha Fierce and Queen B, Beyoncé will be gracing the cover of Vogue’s September issue. The photo leaked on August 12th and everyone sucked in a breath, wondering if it was a hoax or not and Vogue came forward the day after, saying that the news was indeed true. This is going to be Beyoncé’s third U.S. Vogue cover after she appeared on the magazine’s April 2009 and March 2013 covers. However, while it is her third appearance it is also the most important one considering the significance of the September issue.
On the leaked cover, which was posted on twitter by a Beyoncé fan account named Beyoncé Legion, the 33-year-old singer can be seen wearing Marc Jacobs, leaning against a sofa or possibly an armchair, her hair wet as if she got out of a bath. Appearing on the September 2015 issue is even more significant considering how she is the first African American singer gracing the September issue of the magazine. Altogether, the Flawless singer will be the third solo African American celebrity featured, after Naomi Campbell in 1999 and Halle Berry in 2010. Last year’s issue featuring models and ‘it’ girls Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls was also leaked so this is not the first time that it has happened to Vogue.
September issues for Vogue aka. the fashion bible are not a light thing and not just for Vogue, but for every other fashion magazine. The September issue is especially important due to the high number of pages, which grace the advertisements of luxurious brands, on that note, last year’s issue had 631 pages of advertisements and that is out of 856 pages. The September issue is the most anticipated issue and is also the issue that has the best sales. It coincides with the season change from Spring/Summer to Fall/Winter and dictates the fashion. The importance of the issue is so big that Vogue presented a documentary film in 2009 which showed the making of the September issue.
