Yesterday, on March 10th at Valentino’s show for Paris Fashion Week, there was an interesting sight when two, older models appeared on the catwalk. There is no doubt that the audience was took by surprise when Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson got on the catwalk to show how things are supposed to be done, naturally, the two were completely in character as they strutted down the catwalk with familiar pouts (or duckfaces as we like to call them today) that everyone recognized from the beloved comedy Zoolander from 2001.
You would wonder why Stiller and Wilson were parading as Derek Zoolander and Hansel respectively. The movie was welcomed to the big screen some fourteen years ago. It has been announced that the duo will be taking the lead roles once again in the sequel, Zoolander 2 which will hit the theatres on Fabruary 12th, 2016. Stiller and Wilson did their famous walk-off from the movie as they were given the opportunity to close the Valentino Fall/Winter 2015 fashion show. The two actors wore midnight blue and baby blue silk outfits topped with overcoats as they gave the audience something to laugh about. Stiller and Wilson even managed to take a picture with Anna Wintour who couldn’t seem to stop smiling as she posed with her sunglasses between the two.
There have been many speculations about the Zoolander sequel since last year and Penelope Cruz was linked to the project while there was a rumor going on that Will Farrell would be reprising his role as designer Mugatu. What we know for sure is that Justin Theroux is writing the script, but it is still unclear if Still will direct it as he did with the first movie.
Putting the two on the runway was definitely good strategy to build hype around the movie and now we can’t wait to see what Derek and Hansel have in store for us. Stay tuned for more news.
