Emma Watson who currently holds the title of Women’s Goodwill Ambassador for the UN revealed that she was cast as Belle in the newest Disney live-action adaption, “Beauty and the Beast”. This makes Belle the fourth Disney princess to come to life, after Kristen Stewart’s Snow White, Elle Fanning’s Aurora or Sleeping Beauty and Lily James’s upcoming Cinderella which will be released in the theatres in spring.

The 24 year old broke the news of her casting to her fans on Facebook, showing how she was excited for her newest role. “I’m finally able to tell you… that I will be playing Belle in Disney’s new live-action Beauty and the Beast!” she started in the post published on January 26th“It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to ‘Be Our Guest’ and sing ‘Something There’. My six year old self is on the ceiling – heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it. Emma xx”

The production of Beauty and the Beast is set to begin later this year with producers David Hoberman and Todd Lieberma. As for the director chosen to bring the story to life, the job was given to Bill Cordon, who is known for his work on “Dreamgirls” and the last two installments of the Twilight Saga, “Breaking Dawn” Part 1 and 2.

This is unfortunately all we know as Watson’s leading man remains still unknown, hopefully we will find out who is going to be the one to play “Beast”. On social media, fans are secretly hoping for either Eddie Redmayne who’s recently in the spotlight for his role of Stephen Hawking in “The Theory of Everything”.

The other two names that are being mentioned are Robert Pattinson and One Direction member Harry Styles. While we wait for more news on the casting choices, we can enjoy that the Harry Potter star is set to play Belle which was an excellent choice in our eyes.
