After having cancelled her party plans in Egypt due to safety concerns, we have word that the superstar singer will relocate to Morocco for a birthday bash to celebrate her 30th birthday. Happy Birthday to Katy Perry! She definitely has a lot of reasons to celebrate, her Prismatic world tour has been a huge success and so has her latest album, Prism. What Katy needs to do now is to relax and enjoy her birthday with her family, friends and fans.
It’s safe to say that the “This Is How We Do” singer has never looked better and we know that age couldn’t possibly slow her down. If nothing, she is sure to age like wine, getting better and better with time. To mark the singer’s big milestone we have decided to showcase her growth as the fashion icon that she is. It doesn’t matter what she wears, we are sure that she would be the most glamorous celebrity even if she were to wear a garbage bag.
While today, Katy is not afraid to take her fashion to the next level and experiment with vibrant colors and styles, a decade ago this wasn’t the case. Six years ago, before hitting it big with “I Kissed A Girl”, Katy Perry was not sporting colorful wigs, PVC clothes or cupcake bras. It would be an understatement to say that the singer’s style has changed drastically since she started kissing girls.
Perry has to be our favorite celebrity that manages to pull off popcorn skirts, neon colors and dresses featuring huge eyes. The singer-songwriter is all about trying new things, but she manages to do it in a refreshing and playful way. Whether she’s on the red carpet or on the stage, she manages to reinvent herself each time, pulling of being cute, fun, wild, retro and sexy like no other.
Back in 2008, she wasn’t as quirky, but played itsafe with little black dresses and would at times tap into the retro world, wearing flapper dresses and roaring 20s inspired hairstyles. Two years later her style changed completely when she became the ‘California Gurl’ and that’s when she found inspiration in cotton candy and ice cream. It was also the time when she started sporting wigs. Just a year later she got interested in Asian culture while still remaining true to pastel colors from 2010. In 2012 she showcased a variety of different styles, from neon greens and purple hair, futuristic, alien-esque to elegant with dark purple hair. From her tour images, Katy wore a palette of crazy and colorful costumes while on the red carpet she mostly stayed chic and elegant, while always managing to be unique.
